One of my favorite things to do is browse youtube for cool song COVERS each month. These are some interesting ones that I ran across and thought you might like. Enjoy.

Avril does a pretty decent cover of Ke (dollar sign) ah, “Tik Tok” for Radio 1′s Live Lounge. It kind of bugs me that she has to read the lyrics though…
ADELE

Adele covers Cheryl Cole’s “Promise This”. Though I love Adele’s singing voice and her second album is rocking, I really have issues listening to her speak. Is it just me? Very very talented gal, she is.
ELLIE GOULDING

Love, love, love Ellie Goulding! She has such a unique voice, tone and talent. She does a good job covering Rihanna’s hit “Only Girl” again on BBC Radio 1 Lounge. I think maybe what doesn’t work in this specific cover is the choice of accompanying strings.

Taylor Momsen is an interesting artist to cover this song. Her rough voice gives the song a twist but I’m not quite sure that I like it. What do you think?
I don;t have an issue with Adele speaking but covering Cheryl Cole!…lol… no, seriously, Adele sounds fabulous as always. Is it just me, or does Taylor Momsen always sound lilke she is desperately trying to sound like a cool rock chic?
LOVE your blog by the way!
Many thanks!
Yes it is true, Adele sounds amazing, almost like a different person when she speaks however. Ugh, maybe I’ve just spent way too long of a time in London….
Taylor Momsen is a funny bird…can’t quite put my finger on that one.
Well, I am not going to make myself very popular, but I like the one by The Pretty Reckless best. I am really a fan of Taylor and this cover she does is great. That is, if you can appreciate her rock influence on the song.
I absolutely love her other stuff, I have to say. I mean their own songs are great, I was listening to them in Spotify the other day and I loooove the quality of her voice! It just sounded a bit of a funny choice for a cover but hey! It’s all subjective.
It might be a strange choice, but they are putting their own sauce on the song. Which I believe to be great. Besides, they stick with the up tempo beat from the song where Ellie Goulding and Adelle narrow it down to become some sort of ballads. But like you said. It’s all subjective.
